How can I georeference maps in Cartographica?

I do not understand something about importing a map. If I have a jpeg map file I can import the image, but the image will not be rectified. How do I geo-reference the map image so imported GPS positions will be properly placed on the image?

Versions of Cartographica through 1.1 require the use of already georeferenced material.

Version 1.2 has the ability to manually, or through the use of GCPs or georeference matrixes, georeference raster data.   Select the raster data in the data pane after selecting the layer and then choose Edit Selected Feature from the Edit menu to bring up the georeference panel.
