How do I create a system profile?
Often, we need to have a copy of the System Profile to understand better your configuration when trying to track down problems. This is a shortened version of the instructions provided by Apple for Using the System Profiler.
- Select About This Mac from the Apple menu
- Click on the More Info... button
- Wait for System Profiler to finish launching
- Select Save As... from the File menu
- Type in a name and make sure that XML is selected from the pop-up menu
- Save to the Desktop (or some other easy to find location)
Now that you have made a System Profile, you can email it to us as an attachment. If it is more than a megabyte, it should be compressed before sending it (you can do this by selecting Compress from the File menu when you have the file selected.
