How do I create a system profile?

Often, we need to have a copy of the System Profile to understand better your configuration when trying to track down problems. This is a shortened version of the instructions provided by Apple for Using the System Profiler.
  1. Select About This Mac from the Apple menu
  2. Click on the More Info... button
  3. Wait for System Profiler to finish launching
  4. Select Save As... from the File menu
  5. Type in a name and make sure that XML is selected from the pop-up menu
  6. Save to the Desktop (or some other easy to find location)
Now that you have made a System Profile, you can email it to us as an attachment. If it is more than a megabyte, it should be compressed before sending it (you can do this by selecting Compress from the File menu when you have the file selected.
