How do I add a new WMS Server in Cartographica?

Cartographica provides users with the ability to change the list of WMS servers available in the program. To add a WMS Server to the included list, follow these steps:

  1. With an open Cartographica window, select Acquire WMS Data... from the File menu.
  2. In the Server Name box, enter a recognizable name for the server, this can be almost anything
  3. In the URL box, enter the URL for the WMS server.
  4. Click on the Add button

The URL for the WMS server should point directly at the capabilities URL for the service. Often, the URL will end in .cgi or /wms, however there really isn't any standard. Here are some examples of servers we provide by default:

NameURL
AES (NASA) http://aes.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/wms
CubeWerx World http://www.cubewerx.com/demo/cubeserv/cubeserv.cgi
Globexplorer http://wms.globexplorer.com:80/gexservlets/wms?
NASA JPL http://wms.jpl.nasa.gov/wms.cgi
National Map http://nmcatalog.usgs.gov/catalogwms/base
NTDB Canada http://wms.cits.rncan.gc.ca/cgi-bin/cubeserv.cgi
