OS X Lion and Serial devices

With the advent of OS X Lion, some users are reporting that devices connected via serial to USB connectors are not being recognized by LoadMyTracks or Cartographica.    So far, all cases we have seen for this have implicated the lack of 64-bit drivers for the USB/Serial cables as the culprit.

Many drivers were updated by the manufacturers for 10.6 to support both 32-bit and 64-bit kernel operation, but since some Macintosh computers continued to use the 32-bit kernel despite being capable of handling the 64-bit kernel, the existing 32-bit drivers continued to function.

OS X Lion now requires the 64-bit kernel and thus 64-bit drivers to run.

Please check your manufacturer's support site and get the latest version of the drivers that are required for 64-bit operation.
